User accounts are granted access to University resources via the Enterprise Active Directory service. Access can also be granted in a very granular fashion, such as enabling read and write privileges for a department file share.Īccounts for individuals and some shared resources are managed by the University's Central Directory Service (CDS). Granted privileges can be broad, such as online access to a cloud service like Office 365 or LabArchives. Access is granted based on different factors, such as the user's status with the University and his/her primary role. These directory services require a University Computing Account username and password, check both for validity, and then provision access to services for the account holder. The University uses multiple directory services to govern access to technology resources. This account acts as a single online identifier for students, faculty, staff members, and alumni. These resources include access to Office 365, Pitt Email (Outlook), Student Computing Lab PCs, and many other technology services. Provides students the ability to create multiple schedules multiple ways.The University Computing Account is the key to accessing online resources at Pitt. This should be used if a student is thinking of changing their program of study and want to know how it would affect their progress. Students can use this component to set up and generate a what-if advisement report based on alternate programs of study. Gives students the option to map out what courses they should take year-by-year and term-by-term in order to view their path to obtain a degree.
